Work > The Protest Series

When we entered into war in Afghanistan I wondered what if anything we have learned as a country since Vietnam which led me to launch the Protest Series. In it I wrestle with difficult topics contrasting then and now. It is also an homage to the music of the nineteen sixties and seventies that inspired people to think, question and take action. I challenge myself to find commercial fabric relative to an issue and create a roadmap of symbols that prompt the viewer to think about the theme of the work. I play with the idea that a quilt symbolizes comfort and domesticity.
